Soldier killed as Army busts KNF training camp in Ruma

 An army soldier has been killed in an IED explosion in Bandarban's Ruma upazila, said a press release of Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).


The blast comes after an army patrol team today occupied a secret training camp and headquarters of armed terrorists of KNF (Kuki-Chin National Front) in Thepi para area of Ruma upazila.


Following complaints from residents living around the KNF training camp area, a patrol team of Ruma Sena Zone left for the camp for ensuring their safety. As the team approached the training camp, the KNF armed terrorist group fled, said the press release.

However, at around 0920 hours, the army patrol team was hit by an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) planted by the terrorists. One soldier injured in the blast was rushed to Chattogram Combined Military Hospital by helicopter in critical condition, it added.

Later, soldier Tujam (30), died while undergoing treatment at the hospital, it said.

Such potential IEDs are being identified and deactivated by the army's specialized team for the safety of the general public, it added.

In recent times, KNF terrorists have been creating anarchy in the hilly townships of Ruma, Roanchhari and Thanchi upazilas of Bandarban through continuous killing, kidnapping, creating panic among the public. Bangladesh Army and other law enforcement agencies are working to prevent such human rights violations, the release further said.

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said that the proposed budget for the fiscal year 2023-24 will help the country turn around from the crisis amid the global economic situation.

Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, made the statement in a quick response to reporters in front of Parliament Bhaban.

Quader also said this budget is also "a people-friendly budget".


He added that the budget has been prepared in a way so that people's sufferings subside.
